Activated Charcoal: How to Neutralize Odours

How to Neutralize Odours is a question we hear a lot, and when ever your Running trainers start to smell, there is a simple option to stick them in the washing machine, but did you know this can effect them making you prone to injury.

Neutralizing foul odours with activated charcoal is as simple as setting the charcoal in the areas where you notice the smell. Activated charcoal is charcoal that has been chemically treated to increase the amount of oxygen it contains. The infusion of oxygen makes the charcoal more porous so that it has more surface area with which to absorb bad odours.

Activated charcoal neutralizes odours, including pet odour, mould and human waste, and it’s much safer than chemical odour neutralizers. You can use it in trash cans, gym bags, lockers, diaper pails, cars, pet runs and anywhere else you find yourself wrinkling your nose. Activated charcoal is available in 75gram and 350gram pouch so you can place it anywhere odour lurks.

Step 1:
Purchase the Right sized activated charcoal Deodorizer based on where to odour lurks. Our 75 gram shoe deodorizers are perfect for smaller items, and our 350 gram cubes are great for rooms, cars and mobile homes.

Step 2:
Identify the areas with the worst odor, These may include the areas near a litter box, around the kitchen trash can or in your bathroom Shoe cupboards or even in the boot of your car.

Step 3:
Place the Deodorizer near to the area making sure it will not come in contact with any liquids.

Step 4:
After 14-30 days we recommend hanging the deodorizer in direct sunlight to recharge the Activated bamboo Charcoal for its next cycle.

Step 5:
Repeat steps 3&4 until the odor is gone, but we would recommend keeping these inplace long term
